Miss Mexico was crowned Miss Universe in Thailand on Friday (November 21, 2025), securing her win despite a string of dramatic moments — including a public scolding from the show’s host.
Contestants from Ivory Coast, the Philippines, Thailand, and Venezuela also reached the final round, chosen from over 120 participants competing in one of the world’s top four beauty pageants.
But before Fatima Bosch claimed the crown, the event descended into turmoil — with accusations of an insult aimed at her intelligence, judges walking out, and multiple contestants stumbling both on and off the stage. Earlier this month, Bosch made headlines when she dramatically walked out — dressed in an evening gown and heels — from a meeting where Thai organiser Nawat Itsaragrisil had publicly reprimanded her.
During a livestream of the meeting, Nawat appeared to single her out over an alleged failure to share required promotional posts on her social media accounts.
As tensions escalated and Nawat called for security, Bosch exited the room accompanied by Miss Iraq. Several other contestants initially stood in support before hesitating when Nawat warned that anyone wishing to remain in the competition should “sit down.”
“He called me dumb, and that is disrespectful,” Bosch later told reporters. “The world needs to see this — we are empowered women, and this platform exists for our voices.”
In the aftermath, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum praised Bosch as “an example of how women should speak up” against mistreatment. Nawat eventually issued an apology.
The chaos didn’t end there. In the days leading up to the final, two judges resigned, with one accusing organisers of rigging the competition through a “secret and illegitimate vote” held without the official jury present.
“This vote was carried out by people who are not recognised members of the official judging panel,” French composer Omar Harfouch wrote in an Instagram statement.
The Miss Universe Organization denied his allegation, insisting that “no impromptu jury has been created.”
Another judge, former professional footballer Claude Makelele, also stepped down, citing “unexpected personal reasons.”
Adding to the drama, during Wednesday’s (November 19, 2025) costume segment, Miss Britain Danielle Latimer stumbled and fell onstage while wearing a costume inspired by the Cockney character Eliza Doolittle.
Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, was taken to the hospital after she fell from the main stage during the evening gown presentation, according to a statement from Miss Universe Organization president Raul Rocha.
Shannon-Dale Reid, public relations director for Miss Universe Jamaica, told AFP on Wednesday night that Henry was “resting under medical observation” and had not sustained any serious injuries.
Reid declined to provide further details on Thursday (November 20, 2025), including her current condition or what caused the fall.
