Sanjeev Arora

Sanjeev Arora is an Indian businessman-turned-politician associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. He is originally from Ludhiana, Punjab and before entering politics, he was a successful industrialist with diverse business interests.


       Early Life & Business Background

Born on 18 September 1963 in Ludhiana, Punjab.

            Comes from a business family; his father started a garment and knitwear business.

         Business ventures include:

Ritesh Industries Ltd / Ritesh Properties and Industries Ltd (RPIL) — real estate and exports.

            Hampton Sky Realty Ltd — industrial and commercial development projects.

            Femella Fashions Ltd — women’s clothing brand.

            Teneron Ltd — non-ferrous metal manufacturing.

Known as a wealthy industrialist — at one point declared net assets of about ₹278 crore, making him one of the richest assembly candidates in Punjab elections.


Political Career with AAP

       Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament)

Sanjeev Arora was nominated by AAP to the Rajya Sabha (representing Punjab) and took oath on 10 April 2022.

He served as a Member of Parliament until 1 July 2025, when his resignation was accepted after he won the assembly election.

     Assembly Election – Ludhiana West

In February 2025, AAP announced him as the candidate for the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election.

He won the bypoll on 23 June 2025, defeating the Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu by about 10,637 votes.

His win increased AAP’s vote share in the constituency compared to previous election  results.


 

    Ministerial Role

After winning the assembly seat, Arora was inducted into the Punjab Cabinet led by      Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

            He was initially assigned Industries and NRI Affairs departments.

Later, he also took on roles related to Power and Investment, showing increased responsibility in the state government.


Focus & Work

    As part of his political role:

He has focused on industrial development, investment promotion, and employment generation in Punjab.

            Advocated on behalf of industry issues in meetings with the Punjab CM.

As an MP earlier, he raised issues related to local infrastructure, health facilities, airports, and rail connectivity.


 Philanthropy & Social Work

Founded the Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust in memory of his parents, providing free treatment to cancer patients over many years.

Active in healthcare initiatives, adoption of public hospitals for upgrades, and social causes in Ludhiana.
