“Nothing to Buy — We’ll Take It”: Trump Reaffirms Plan for U.S. Control of Gaza

U.S. President Donald Trump has once again defended his controversial proposal to place the Gaza Strip under American control, declaring that the move would not involve any financial transaction. During a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in the Oval Office, Trump stated, “We’re going to have Gaza. There’s nothing to buy — we’ll take it, we’ll hold it, and we’ll cherish it.”

The remarks underscore Trump’s continued push for a bold and unconventional approach to the Middle East conflict. King Abdullah II, one of Washington’s closest regional allies, was reportedly taken aback by the statement, as it signals a significant shift from traditional U.S. diplomatic policy regarding Palestinian territories.

King Abdullah reportedly informed President Donald Trump that Egypt was already pursuing a regional framework to address the Gaza crisis. However, Trump’s proposal has drawn widespread condemnation, as it suggests relocating Gaza’s 2.2 million residents to neighboring countries without the right of return.

Trump — who amassed his fortune in real estate — dismissed claims that his Gaza plan was driven by personal business interests. “No, I’ve had a great career in real estate,” he said, emphasizing instead his goal to rebuild the region’s economy. “We’re going to get it moving again, creating a lot of jobs for people across the Middle East.”

Defending his controversial stance, Trump argued that many Palestinians would choose to leave Gaza given the devastation and living conditions following more than a year of war since Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel. “Just look at how they’re living now — there’s no place in the world with worse conditions than the Gaza Strip,” he remarked.

The plan, first unveiled last week, envisions turning Gaza into what Trump described as the “Riviera of the Middle East”, but only after its current residents are displaced permanently. The proposal has ignited global outrage and raised serious diplomatic alarm across the international community.

Trump’s Gaza Plan Faces Firm Rejection from Jordan and Egypt

U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to place Gaza under American authority has drawn sharp criticism from two of Washington’s key Middle Eastern allies — Jordan and Egypt. During a meeting at the Oval Office, Jordan’s King Abdullah II firmly rejected the idea, reiterating the collective Arab opposition to any plan that involves the displacement of Palestinians. In a statement posted on social media after the talks, King Abdullah reaffirmed his position: “I reiterated Jordan’s steadfast stance against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. This is the unified Arab position. The priority must be rebuilding Gaza without uprooting its people and addressing the severe humanitarian crisis.”Trump has repeatedly floated the notion that neighboring countries such as Jordan and Egypt could absorb Gaza’s population — a suggestion that has fueled diplomatic unease throughout the region. Responding to Trump’s remarks, King Abdullah cautioned against unilateral moves, pointing out that Egypt was already developing a coordinated regional plan. “We will be in Saudi Arabia to discuss cooperation with the President and the United States. Let’s wait for Egypt to present its proposal before moving ahead,” he urged. In a gesture of goodwill, the Jordanian monarch offered to provide medical treatment in Jordan for 2,000 Palestinian children battling cancer. Trump, who had earlier threatened to cut U.S. aid to Jordan if it declined to accept refugees, praised the offer as “really beautiful” and walked back his earlier remarks. “I don’t have to make that kind of threat. We’re better than that,” he said.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry announced plans to unveil a comprehensive reconstruction strategy for Gaza, stressing that Palestinians must remain on their land. Cairo expressed readiness to work with Washington to pursue “a fair and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue.”

As Trump’s Gaza plan continues to draw widespread international backlash, the resistance from Jordan and Egypt underscores the deep regional and humanitarian challenges surrounding any attempt to reshape the future of the territory.

Gaza Truce on Brink of Collapse as Israel Threatens Renewed Offensive

The fragile ceasefire in Gaza is teetering on the edge of collapse after Israel warned it would restart large-scale military operations unless Hamas releases all remaining hostages by this weekend. The truce, which has brought a temporary halt to more than 15 months of fighting, was built around a series of hostage-prisoner exchanges — five of which have been completed so far.

Despite escalating tensions, Hamas has reaffirmed its commitment to the agreement, accusing Israel of repeated violations that have undermined the peace process. The group maintains that it has abided by the terms of the deal and insists that any renewed fighting would be Israel’s responsibility.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stark ultimatum on Thursday, declaring, “If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will resume full-scale operations until Hamas is completely defeated.”Echoing Netanyahu’s warning, U.S. President Donald Trump also issued a strong statement, cautioning that “hell will break loose” if Hamas fails to meet the deadline. Trump emphasized that the United States stands firmly behind Israel’s right to defend itself while urging both sides to avoid a total breakdown of the ceasefire.

With diplomatic channels intensifying in Cairo, Doha, and Washington, world leaders are scrambling to salvage the fragile truce. Yet, as the clock ticks toward Israel’s deadline, fears are growing that Gaza could once again descend into full-scale warfare, threatening to unravel months of negotiation and humanitarian progress.
